Contests 2014 this Saturday, 8th March 2014
I would like
to take this opportunity to thank the role players for making sure the event
runs smoothly. Without the Contest Chair to chair the contest, timers to
keep time, the judges to judge, the tally counters to calculate, and the
sergeant-at-arms to control and manage the room, “it would just be the speakers
speaking to the walls” to quote our President Fia Iskandar's words
Kudos to all
the speakers for taking up the challenge on competing. Speaking in a
contest setting is very different than speaking in a normal meeting
environment. You learn so much more about yourself and sometimes you might even
discover something new that you never knew existed in yourself, maybe
discovering your hidden ability to sing like a pigeon? Entering a competition
is not just about the trophies, it is what you make out of your experience that
has a deeper value. Getting a trophy is a plus point, however if you did not
take home a trophy, never ever give up. Keep on trying and there is always
something new to
learn each
time.
In
toastmasters we learn by doing. Just by being there, whether you are a role
player or a speaker, the knowledge and experience you gained are very
precious. So congratulations to all for being there.
I would like
to extend my deepest appreciation to the people who have encouraged and
mentored me to take up this role as organizing chairperson. Thank you President
Fia, Vice President Education Vijay and my mentor Nora Ridzwan for trusting me
with this role even though I am only a couple of months old as a KKTMC member.
One of the many good things about KKTMC is it helps you grow
professionally, and at the same time it appreciates your talents and
personalities. I learned a lot as the organizing chair that I am sure I
wouldn’t learn anywhere else. Thanks a bunch for the opportunity.
Attached are
the some photos of the contest.
Best Regards,
Kamilia Kamaruzaman
